Why is Hot Kiln Alignment (HKA) critical?
▪️ Thermal Deformations:
A kiln behaves differently during operation than when it is „cold.” Static measurements often fail to detect dynamic shell warping—commonly known as the „banana effect.”
▪️ Refractory Lifespan:
Improper geometry leads to uneven stresses. These mechanical forces can crush refractory bricks much faster than any chemical process.
▪️ Mechanical Wear:
Achieving proper axial balance isn’t just about the thrust rollers; it’s a matter of survival for the entire drive system.
If the tires (riding rings) at your plant are starting to „wobble” uncontrollably and support rollers are showing signs of edge loading – it is time to stop relying solely on static measurements.
